Last year in the US, 72 trillion gallons of water, salt and over 360 billion gallons of 600 known carcinogenic chemicals were pumped into the earth to extract natural gas from shale rock through the use of pressurized hydraulic fracturing, or "fracking". The fracking industry itself admits to reclaiming only 30% to 50% of that solution. Where do the residual chemicals go? Groundwater near frack sites show Methane contamination to be 17% higher.

It is amazing how people think that what we do will have no consequences...or possibly they just don't care. It so boils down to the money
ReplyDeleteYou probably know about the Naval Petroleum and Oil Shale Reserves that was designated in the early 1900's by the military. And when it comes to Money, the Department of Energy actually made money for the government when they started producing, like $17 billion dollars.
